Fremantle Dockers 2008 Season-Pre Season

Fremantle Dockers Season 2008

Will the Purple Army live up to expectations?

The Dockers have got strong expectations hanging over their heads for season 2008. With young stars to be.. Rhys Palmer, Chris Mayne, Clayton Hinkley, added to the list through the 2007 Draft. Which brings the much needed injection of youth and pace. The Superstar Matthew Pavlich will continue his reign as captain of the club while Josh Carr will also have another year as the Vice Captain of Fremantle. The Dockers will kick off their Pre Season with a match against cross town rivals... The West Coast Eagles at Subiaco Oval on Sunday Night. So it looks to be a ripper of a season for Fremantle in 2008 and it is sure to begin soon.

Fremantle Dockers V West Coast Eagles

Round 1-NAB Pre Season-Subiaco Oval

Weather-18,Overcast

Line Up:

Match Wrap Up:

Fremantle Scrabble their way towards victory

Fremantle have fought back from a three quarter time deficit to beat the Eagles by 8 points in a scrappy affair at Subiaco Oval in Round 1 of the NAB Pre Season Competition.

The dockers smashed the Eagles in the first quarter. With Full Forward Chris Tarrant booting three of Fremantles 5 goals of the quarter. Before the Eagles answered through Brown. The quarter time score

Fremantle 5-4- 34
West Coast 1-3- 9

West Coast played better football in the second term. Cutting off Fremantles supply to their forwards. The Eagles kicked the opening three goals of the term. Fremantle struggled to make do on the score board booting 4 behinds in a row and it hurt even more when eagle Brent Staker snapped a goal from the boundary to reduce the margin to 1 straight kick. But it was the Skipper Matthew Pavlich who booted through his second for Fremantle to extend the margin to 13 points at half time.

Fremantle 6-9- 45
West Coast 4-8- 32

West Coast run through the midfield stumped Fremantle. Rhys Palmer in his opening league game was the only midfielder for Fremantle gathering up touches and ended up with 21 at three quarter time. Opening goals to the Eagles plus numerous turnovers from Fremantle caused the lead to slip from their hands at three quarter time. The Score:

Fremantle 7-10- 52
West Coast 8-11- 59

A fantastic last stand from the Dockers gave them a 8 point win. The Captain of Fremantle kicked 2 final quarter goals to end up with 4 for the match. Eagle Chad Fletcher however kicked the opening goal for West Coast and replied after a Chris Tarrant goal shortly after, to finish the night with 3. Deep inside time Brent Staker for the eagles slotted his 2nd and it looked to give them a sniff. But it was the captain for Fremantle calmly slotting through his 4th to seal the match:

Great update, nice win but shouldn't have been so close after the first quarter.

Nice animation.
