India in West Indies, 2009

After being knocked out of the Twenty20 World Cup in the Super 8 stage, India will be hoping to heal some wounds as they tour West Indies for a short ODI series immediately after the conclusion of the world cup. The Windies spot in the semis is not yet guaranteed, so it is possible that both these teams will have made premature exits from the tournament.

Schedule:
Fri Jun 26
14:30 GMT 1st ODI - West Indies v India (Sabina Park)

Sun Jun 28
14:30 GMT 2nd ODI - West Indies v India (Sabina Park)

Fri Jul 3
13:30 GMT 3rd ODI - West Indies v India (Beausejour Stadium)

Sun Jul 5
13:30 GMT 4th ODI - West Indies v India (Beausejour Stadium)

Indian Squad
MS Dhoni*, Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Yusuf Pathan, M Vijay, S Badrinath, RP Singh, Praveen Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Abhishek Nayar, Ashish Nehra, Ravindra Jadeja, Dinesh Karthik

Oh god! I thought India had a break. Dont we have the Champions trophy coming up soon? When will these boys get a break?

India are obviously favorites. Our ODI form has been superb in the last few seasons (after Dhoni took over). In T20, its fickle. But in ODI's, the best team most often wins consistently and India are the best team than WI.

India are obviously favourites but the West Indies have got a good team in the making.

Why do you guys make it look as if we do not want to play test cricket. It is`nt the BCCI which schedules a series hosted in the Carribean. All of us are irritated by the fact that we don`t have a test match till December.

Both teams have to come to an agreement about what will happen on the tour...

What a stupid tour as Howsie said.
If its no test matches atleast have 5 ODIs instead of 4 and batsman start practising with golf balls.

Adding Tests to this tour means that it would have added probably another month to the tour, which would take it all the way up to August, leaving only about a 2-3 week break before the Champions Trophy. India have been playing non-stop cricket for months now and need a break and the BCCI probably only agreed to this tour to help the cash-strapped Windies board.

Well I'm not trying to start some massive argument here but can't the Indian players just pull out of the IPL if they want a break?

^ I don't think they can, as it is an Indian domestic tournament, and an Indian tournament without Indian stars sound silly, doesn't it?

Well then the BCCI or the Indian players shouldn't really complain about not having enough time away from cricket if thats the reason why there is only four ODI's on this tour.

The IPL would only have provided a month off anyway and then it would have been back to cricket. So the scheduling of the IPL doesn't matter--the players need about a month and a half to let their bodies rest for the next season, which starts off with the Champions Trophy and then Australia's tour to India. So it makes sense to take a break now, rather than playing a full tour in West Indies, scurrying over to South Africa for the Champions Trophy and then returning home, fatigued, to host the Aussies.

Lol, 4 ODIs. How idiotic. Never heard of a 4 match ODI series. I could probably do a better job than some of these guys. Seriously, WTF.
