Interesting new feature for the Friends Provident Trophy this year. Teams will be able to refer decisions to the third umpire in televised matches.

I'm not a fan of that. I'm very much a believer in the 'it's the umpire's job so let him do it'. I am glad to see the 2 unsuccessful appeals ruling though. This should prevent it from being overused or referring for the sake of it.

Very strong MCC Side as well.
8 player who were on the England 'A' tour, plus a young spinner from the Essex academy, forgotten his name and a couple other young up and coming English county players.

On the 2 referrals trial, I think if it is going to be trialed, it should be in every Friends and Provident Trophy Match and not just the televised ones. I feel the ECB have implemented it wrong in this way.

Lancs won a friendly against Durham today at OT. Won by 21 runs after Loye got 80 and Newby and Chapple both got 3 each. Harmison played and was relatively expensive in a total of 224-8 with 6-0-31-1. I'm going down to the second game tomorrow, but don't think Harmy will play then as he's got the MCC game on Friday.

It would be kind of hard to refer something to a non-present tv umpire though Phil
