The league is really open this year, there are a number of sides that you wouldn't write off.

Hampshire put up a decent challenge
I think Sussex will find it hard the 2nd time around but I wouldn't write them off
Lancs with Murali and co are a real threat
As much as it pains me to say it, Yorkshire have a decent squad this time around
Warwickshire also have a decent chance with Sangakarra and hopefully Giles not playing for England

Actually, I better be careful I dont get splinters after all this sitting on the fence.

Yorkshire seem to be turning into their own little soap opera up there. Who really cares if Gough goes back there? If this isn't his last season then they're going to end up carrying him anyway.

That's a very nice lineup they got going at Hampshire. Clark is in awesome FC/Test form so he'll be a big plus for FC games.

Funnily enough he wasn't anything special at Middlesex, and Lords is the sort of pitch that should suit him perfectly. He'll probably take a fair few wickets at the Rose Bowl, but he may struggle on the pitches that keep a bit lower and lack pace. Still that Hampshire side looks pretty strong, especially having Warne for an entire uninterupted season.

Amjad Khan of Kent is out for the entire season. He injured his Knee at a fast bowling training camp while with England A and has undergone surgery to his right knee.

The operation was a reconstruction of his posterior cruciate ligament and he wont be able to play competitive cricket for at least 9 months.

This is a massive blow to Kent who have a small player roster for this season.

That is a major blow. Kent's squad was thin enough already.

On the Clark signing well I don't think he's going to take the league by storm because not all overseas quickies do well in England. Asif didn't have the best of times in England last year.

Yes, we only have 16 players (now 15), I guess its a chance to see some of the young local talent step up this season.
