Shall be interesting to see the line up come mid April.

I reckon Middlesex could have a decent year this year. Granted we're in division two of both competitions, but we've still got a top quality batting lineup, and actually have some bowlers capable of taking wickets this year.

Compton, Smith, Joyce, Shah, Dalrymple, Hutton, Godleman, and on very rare occasions Strauss is as always a strong batting lineup, especially in division two. Whilst this year we've also got Kartik and Vaas to add to Silverwood, and Murtagh and Johnson. If Johno stays fit, we could feasibly have a side out that on a regular basis that looks something like:

Compton
Smith *
Shah
Joyce (maybe) / Godleman
Dalrymple / Morgan
Hutton
Nash + / Scott +
Vaas
Keegan / Murtagh
Kartik
Johnson

Or something like that

I think they can because Saqlain and Mushy aren't legible to play for Pakistan. Not 100% on that though.

Yeah because they've managed to sign Saqlain as a non-overseas.

Not quite.

Initially Saqlain will be an overseas player but because Mushy and Rana are at the WC we can play him, he can apply for a British passport in April because he married an English burd. he could then play as an EU qualified player. In 2008 he becomes eligible for England so his status will be like Stuart Laws.

Well no. He's already a British citizen. And a British citizen wouldn't be playing as an EU player would they?

Yep, I can agree that Johnson fit and on form would tear Division Two to pieces, it probably won't happen though, as he hasn't had a full season for about 5 years. If you think he's the worst batsman in your squad, then I am officially scared at the strength of your tail.

No I don't at all! As you say because of injuries it's touch and go if he plays, so he's below the possible pairing of Keegan and Murtagh. If he does play though he'd come in just below Vaas I'd reckon, and that's already a mighty strong tail, especially since Keegan is supposed to be able to wield the willow a bit. Not too sure about Kartiks batting skill, but I don't believe he's much cop, likewise with Murtagh.

Even so we could feasibly play 5 bowlers when/if JD is unavailable as Vaas and Johnson could more than easily bat at 7 and 8 if needed.

I put that team together pretty quickly, and for some reason left out Silverwood, which was a bit of a mistake considered he was one of our best bowlers last year (not hard to be honest )

So if him and Johnson can stay fit for most of the season I think we'll have a great year, if not we may still struggle for wickets, although Vaas and Kartik should pick up wickets regardless, especially in Div 2.

Kartik's definitely your number 11. Thats where he's generally batted for Lancs in the past.

Well I was wrong about him already having a British passport. But the point about him not being an EU player still stands.
