India vs Pakistan 1st 2020 Preview

1st Twenty20 Preview:

Form guide (last 3 matches verses gougie, most recent 1st)
LeftArmFast - LLW

Watch out for:
The 4 overs of spin each team must bowl.

Team news:
Pakistan/LeftArmFast (probable): 1 S Butt, 2 K Akmal (w/k), 3 Y Khan, 4 S Malik (c), 5 M ul Haq, 6 S Afridi, 7 Y Arafat, 8 A Razzak, 9 U Gul, 10 S Akhtar, 11 S Ajmal

India/Gougie (probable): 1 V Sehwag, 2 G Gambhir, 3 VVS Laxman, 4 S Tendulkar, 5 Y Singh, 6 MS Dhoni (wk/c), 7 Y Pathan, 8 I Pathan, 9 Z Khan, 10 L Balaji, 11 I Sharma

Pitch and conditions:
A Day 5 wicket at Eden Gardens should suit the spinners. The overcast sky might help some movement in the air as well. Batting should be difficult in what is predicted to be a low scoring affair.

Stats and Trivia:
-In Athens, Greece, a driver's license can be lifted by the law if the driver is deemed either 'poorly dressed' or 'unbathed'.

-On the island of Jersey it's against the law for a man to knit during the fishing season.

-In Michigan, it is illegal to chain an alligator to a fire hydrant.

India vs Pakistan 1st Twenty20 International (10th 2020 of diary)

India won the toss and chose to bat.

A slow start with Laxman 7(7) getting run out in the 3rd over. Sehwag 2(4) fell driving in the 4th over as Gul and Razzak kept things tight in the powerplay. 20/2 in 6 overs. Arafat on to bowl in the 7th over and bowls Tendulkar 5(9) 1st ball! Gambhir 6(17) gets run out the 4th ball of Arafats over. India struggling against the drastic change in pace. Naturally Pakistan bring Akhtar on next who gets Yuvraj 6(6). Indias scorecard reads like a phone number so far, no one into double figures just yet. 28/5 in 8 overs. Arafat took Dhoni 1(2) and I Pathan 1(3) in his 2nd over and Pakistan look to be comfortably on top. 31/7 in 9 overs and India in danger of being bowled out before the spinners come on! Arafat picks up Z Khan in his 3rd over and now has 4 wickets. Y Pathan falls 8(15) to be Arafats 5th victim! Sharma and Balaji wagged a bit but Razzak ended India's innings for 64

(gougie) India 64 all out 16.3 overs
Balaji 16*(18)
Y Pathan 8(15)
------------------
Y Arafat 5/16 (4.0)
A Razzak 2/19 (3.3)

K Akmal was dropped on duck in the 1st over off I Pathans bowling. Butt 4(3)was not so lucky, inside edging a cheekly shot on the stumps off Ishant Sharma. This brought Y Khan 25(19) to crease, whose brief innings put Pakistan in a comfortable position at the end of the powerplay. 40/2 in 6 overs. Malik fell before the 10th over but it was too late for India. Akmal finished the game cautiously to give Pakistan a 1-0 lead in the series.

(LeftArmFast) Pakistan 65/3 in 10.3 overs
Y Khan 25(19)
K Akmal 23*(29)
--------
L Balaji 1/7 (2.0)
I Sharma 1/20 (4.0)

(LeftArmFast) Pakistan win by 7 wickets and lead the series 1-0

MOM Yasir Arafat took 5/16 in 4 overs

India vs Pakistan 2 Twenty20 International (11th 2020 of diary)

2nd Twenty20 International

@ National Stadium, Karachi

Lets go to the toss.

Pakistan field an unchanged side.
Pakistan/LeftArmFast: 1 S Butt, 2 K Akmal (w/k), 3 Y Khan, 4 S Malik (c), 5 M ul Haq, 6 S Afridi, 7 Y Arafat, 8 A Razzak, 9 U Gul, 10 S Akhtar, 11 S Ajmal

India bring in Harbhajan Singh for Yusuf Pathan
India/Gougie: 1 V Sehwag, 2 G Gambhir, 3 VVS Laxman, 4 S Tendulkar, 5 Y Singh, 6 MS Dhoni (wk/c), 7 H Singh, 8 I Pathan, 9 Z Khan, 10 L Balaji, 11 I Sharma

India win the toss and chose to bat.
Sehwag 0(2) fell for a duck in the 2nd over as India again got off to a slow start. Laxman and Tendulkar picked up the pace, getting India to 30/1 at the 6 over mark. Arafat picked up Tendulkar 18(19) in the 9th over and the match seemed very evenly poised. Laxman playing well as India post 48/2 at the halfway stage. Ajmal is introduced in the 11th over and goes for 19 runs. The 4 overs of spin will be vital to India posting a big score. 84/2 in 13 overs and Pakistani bowlers have no answer for Laxman and Yuvraj. 109/2 in 14 as Afridi takes a pasting. 50 up for Yuvraj Singh. YV takes a liking to another over from Ajmal, India 142/2 in 17. 50 up for Laxman in the 18 over and he falls for 62(53) in the same over. Akhtar bowls a relativly tight final over but Yuvraj 94*(45) gets India to 176/3 in 20 overs.

India (gougie) 176/3 in 20 overs
Y Singh 94*(45)
VVS Laxman 62(53)
S Tendulkar 18(19)
---------------
S Malik 1/18 (1.0)
A Razzak 1/20 (4.0)
Y Arafat 1/36 (4.0)

Pakistan got off to a lucky start with Butt being dropped in the 1st over. Butt 13(15) got caught behind down the leg side. Balaji bowls an expensive over with 4 no-balls, 25 runs off the over and Pakistan have some breathing room again. 56/1 after 6 overs. Akmal is set and Y Khan slowly getting there. These two need to hang around until the spinners come on. Harbhajan makes his series debut in the 7th over and picks up Younus Khan 20(13). Afridi walks to the crease, Pakistan 76/2 in 8 overs. Yuvraj follows the next over, spin twins on AC09, a rare occasion. Afridi hammers 646 off Yuvraj who goes for 18 in his 1st over. Sharma on to bowl after 2 overs of spin that went for 27 runs. 98/2 in 10 overs. Akmal 45(34) stumped off Singh. Afridi falls shortly after but Pakistan still have a sniff. 134/4 in 14 overs. Final over of spin to be bowled by H Singh, and Malik stumped! Arafat in now and Pakistans chances seem to be slipping. Arafat 4(3) gone! Could this be the match? Razzak (rating 34) walks to the crease 29 runs still needed off the last 5 overs. 148/6 in 15 overs. 25 runs needed in 4 overs now. 160/6 in 17 overs, 17 needed off the last 3. Razzak 9(10 out trying to hit in deep cover. 14 needed in the last 2. Sharma to bowl the penultimate over and Misbah 31(23) run out! What a terrible mistake by Pakistan. 12 needed off the last over and its Zaheer Khan to bowl. Final over : 411W11
5 needed off the last ball and Akhtar edges down to third man for a single.

Pakistan (LeftArmFast) 173/9 in 20 overs
K Akmal 45(34)
M Haq 31(23)
S Afridi 23(12)
Yunus Khan 20(13)
----------------------
H Singh 4/41 (3.0)
Z Khan 2/19 (4.0)

India (gougie) win by 3 runs and tie the series 1-1

MOM Yuvraj Singh during his brutal 94*(45)

Had no answers with my bowlers, almost got there with my batsman just that stupid stupid runout in the 19th over.

Series is nicely poised going into the final match at Colombo.

Think that stopping the easy single to square leg for the last 3 overs, just won it in the end mate.

Yea I just needed a run a ball and you managed to stop that. The main difference was the spinners, Harbhajan only went for 10 rpo whereas mine went for 20!

Already have plans for a new spin field

If I recall correctly 1 of the wickets in Harbhajans last over was Misbah getting run out. That had to be the nail in the cofifn.

Thought it was stumped and caught, whatever it was, that was the over that changed the game in my favour, say 15 -20 runs 0 wickets from the over, and you would have won quite easily, with an over or 2 to spare.
