Converting Vp6 to Avi.(Look below)

Overlay Editing Tutorial.(Click it)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have seen many posts asking what is the .vp6 file and some asking how to convert them so here's a solution to it.It's very easy.

OK then here we are finally at my first tutorial .

This is a tutorial to Convert the .vp6 files from EA SPORTS CRICKET07 and other similar games into .avi files.

Here's what you need:

EA Converter

CONVERTING .VP6 TO .AVI FILE:

First Download all the above files.

Install the EA CONVERTER.

Then Open the Folder in which the .vp6 files are present.

Quote:
Usually "C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS(TM) Cricket 07\Data\"
Then extract the EA CONVERTER into this directory (i.e)EA SPORTS Cricket 07\Data

Now you'll find these two files eabigunp.exe and eaconv.exe

Now go to RUN dialog box and Type "cmd" (without quotes) to start the DOS Prompt
This is the best resource to help newbies to use DOS Click here[note: i didn't write it]

Now in the DOS prompt go to the directory in which you have the .vp6 files.
Then when you are at the location type "eaconv.exe file.vp6"(without quotes) where file is the NAME OF FILE you wish to convert.

Quote:
example :
C:\Program Files\EA Sports\Cricket 07\Data\eacov.exe eaep.vp6
Now the file will be processed and it will be placed in the same directory as an .AVI file.

Files tend to be heavy at times so use any Video Compressor to change the file format

Cheers you have successfully converted the file!

I hope this is helpful to you!

But first convert the files xsellep.vp6 and attep.vp6 becoz they have the previews of RUGBY 2005 and Cricket 2005.What are these for????

PART 1 : Sub (a)

CMD:(command prompt)

First of all thanks for reading this.....
Here what you need to do .
First open the run dialog box or press Winkey + R
Now type the words "cmd"{without quotes}
and press enter now the black window known as the DOS Prompt open up.
It'll look like this

Code:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

X:\XXXXXXXXX\XXX>

Where XXXX may be any directory
Now you have to start to type....

step1:
Type the drive letter of the drive followed by a colon in which cricket 07 is.
for example: Cricket07 is at "C:\Program Files\EA Sports\Cricket 07"
Code:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

E:\XXXXXXXX\XXXXX>C:
hit enter now
it becomes

C:\>

step 2:

Now the to go to the Cricket 07 root directory type cd and leave a space and then type the remaining directory path as i do

Code:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

E:\XXXXXXXXXX\XXXXX>C:

C:\>cd<space>path excluding the drive letter

C:\>cd Program Files\EA Sports\Cricket07
note the space! and hit enter

C:\Program Files\EA Sports\Cricket 07>
Now at last type cd DATA

Code:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

E:\XXXXXXXXX\XXXXXX>C:
C:\>cd Program Files\EA Sports\Cricket07
C:\Program Files\EA Sports\Cricket 07>cd Data
hit enter and it'll look like this
C:\Program Files\EA Sports\Cricket 07\Data>
Now by this time you must have copied the two files mentioned in the tutorial into the DAta Directory..

So now type

Code:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

E:\XXXXXXXXX\XXXXXX>C:
C:\>cd Program Files\EA Sports\Cricket07
C:\Program Files\EA Sports\Cricket 07>cd Data
C:\Program Files\EA Sports\Cricket 07\Data>eaconv.exe filename.vp6
filename is the name of the .vp6 file you wish to convert.

example
Code:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

E:\XXXXXXXXX\XXXXXX>C:
C:\>cd Program Files\EA Sports\Cricket07
C:\Program Files\EA Sports\Cricket 07>cd Data
C:\Program Files\EA Sports\Cricket 07\Data>eaconv.exe eaep.vp6

not the space between both the exe and the vp6 file
if you want to decode the eaep.vp6 file.
Now press enter and it'll work up and dislay something like this at the end
Code:
 Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

E:\XXXXXXXXX\XXXXXX>C:
C:\>cd Program Files\EA Sports\Cricket07
C:\Program Files\EA Sports\Cricket 07>cd Data
C:\Program Files\EA Sports\Cricket 07\Data>eaconv.exe eaep.vp6
EA's video&audio decoder v0.6i * BETA * jan-2k7 ■ by VAG, ARR. vagsoft@mail.ru
That's an EARLY BETA version. It IS contain bugs. It WILL crash. I KNOW that.
For playing vp6-avi files, go to www.on2.com , download and install VP6 codec.
Processing... Done!
now you'll find the decoded .avi file

cheers
Done

The process is the same but replace the path that i gave for example with the path of your Cricket 07 directory.

Any help needed PM me.

Part 2:

Converting Avi to VP6:-

Tools Needed:

1)Sound Xchange
2)Sound Xchange GUI
3)VP6 Builder
4)VP6 Codec
5)Virtual DUB
6)AVI File

First install the VP6 Codec you downloaded and restart if required and then install Virtual DUB(usually .zip file) then unpack VP6 Builder and then unpack Sound Xchange GUI and Sound Xchange into the same directory

So here we begin:-

Step1:-

Create a Movie or Just Select any Clip to be converted..The video file must have the the width and height as 640*480..Then Make the
Video Clip For About 7-9 seconds only...(see at the bottom to know what happens to a clip above 9 seconds)

Step2:-

As the Heading Says no matter whatever the filetype of the video is you have to convert it into .avi file before proceeding.

Step3:-

Now Open the Virtual DUB...and then
Quote:
File --> Open
. and browse to the Video Clip that you have in Avi File Format.
Open it and now Go to
Quote:
Video --> Compression
. Select VP60 Simple and leave the Configuration Default and do not change
them unless you know what you are doing.

Step4:-

Now
Quote:
File --> Save As
and the Select the location to save the file.. adn now you will have the video(without Audio)
at that place and DO NOT CLOSE Virtual DUB because you are not done yet ...
Now Go to
Quote:
File --> Save WAV
and then choose the Location and you'll have the Audio at that place.

Step5:-

Interesting Step of All....
Open the Sound Xchange GUI (Note: Sound Xchange and Sound Xchange GUI must be in the same folder..) and browse
to the WAV file you exported and then in the Output Give the Path you wish to store the File and also
At the end of the Path give the extension as .sng and not .dat!!! and now Click Create and the .sng file would be created at
the location you gave..

Step6:-

Now Open VP6 Builder and for:

i) Input Video File Browse to the .avi file you created with Virtual DUB and select it.
ii) Check the Box Audio to include Audio.
iii) Input Audio File Browse to the .wav file you created with Virtual DUB and select it
iv) Output Video File Browse to any location and give any filename
v) Now click GO! button to start the compilation and after it has finished a Message will appear as "Convertion Complete"

Now its done...
Now all you have to do is to rename the file to the file you wish to overwrite the list is given at the end and then
copy the Created File into The
Code:
Cricket2007 root directory\Data
Now give it will ask if you wish to replace give yes and the most important of
All BACK UP YOUR FILES BEFORE DOING ANYTHING TO IT! BECAUSE NO ONE CLAIMS RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT

Video Lengths:\\

Quote:
Above 9 seconds but below 19 seconds = The video runs extremely fine with perfect sync with Audio but after the Video
Plays The Game Freezes

20 Seconds to ?? Seconds = The Video Starts Fine but after 3-4 seconds the video freeze for sometime and then the video plays by skipping the frames
to a large extent and then the game continues as normal..Through out the whole Video playing time the Audio plays fine!!
Quote:
May be someone better can find why these happen and also solve it may be that the .exe contains some kind of restriction for
the Vp6 files..

It's the EA's Video file format actually,do ya remember the video that says "EA SPORTS" at the starting of the game.
And if some is making a mega patch like BlackMagic's patch they can use this to convert the .vp6 files into .avi and if i find out the method to convert .avi into .vp6 they can use it to create their own intro movies and all that stuff.
Thanx for reply
