Cricket 09 News

Small pieces of information on EA Sports' next cricket game has appeared on 2 websites over the weekend.

The New Zealand gaming shopping website GamePlanet Store/Mighty Ape claims that Cricket 09 will be released in NZ on the 8th May 2009 and will be called EA Sports ICC Cricket 09: 20/20 World Cup. This suggests it will have either a full ICC licence or an ICC licence for the 20:20 World Cup which takes place later this year in England.

The Australian governments film and game classification department has also added Cricket 09 to its list of games. In order to classify the game a beta version must have been played by the Australian censors and the game has been classified General.

The listing also shows the development country as Canada. This could mean the game is again being developed by HB Studios in Nova Scotia in Canada. Their website currently states - "...6 other projects are in development".

To discuss EA Cricket 09 visit this forum thread and for all the latest news on Cricket 09 keep checking PlanetCricket.net. Once more information on EA Cricket 09 is released we will be launching our new site Cricket09.org and dedicated Cricket 09 forums.

Its again made by HB studios because the domain is registered by EA Canada. That means this will probably be built upon Cricket 07.

They are different companies. HB Studios made Cricket 2002-07 and Rugby 1-08. EA Canada make the Fifa games.

They should have built a new engine as it'll almost certainly be on 360 and PS3, meaning inevitable bugs. Just hope it's playable, could do with a new, up to date cricket game on the 360. Online T20 matches are definite win, so hopefully we'll get the T20 World Cup license as mentioned!

That's what I was thinking. Cricket 2005 consist of big files which was there in Cricket 04 but not in 02. Cricket 07 was also based on Cricket 05. I hope they'll change the file system of their game.

HB Studios and EA Canada are different companies. If EA have told their people in Canada to register the domain because they are closer to the people at HB Studios, then fine, but atm I believe EA Canada are making this game.

I hope they will release it soon because it takes nearly 3-4 months for a US/Canada released game to reach in countries like India.

We should cross our fingers and hope for the best now.
