| ICC Board Member AKA: Andrew (never Andy) Member Since: Oct 2004 Location: Huddersfield, Englan National Team: England Domestic Team: Lancashire | First class matches are all matches scheduled for 3 or more days of 2 innings that fall into the following categories: Test matches Domestic competitions in Test match countries Matches involving Kenya and a test side or domestic side Tour matches between Test playing countries and domestic sides Scotland against Ireland And any other that a test match countries cricket board or the ICC regards as first class Matches have been considered first class in the past that if played now would not be considered first class. Also the defintion states that the games have to be played on grass and be 11 a-side, but in the past games played on matting and 12 a side games have been considered first class.

They were quite an attacking team in ODIs and they have 3 in the top 15 scores.

| Guest | I have to defend my country Sri Lanka are THAT Good :P Test Match (952/6) Actually that was a really dull match..... it was a Dead Pitch.... in 1997 India batted first and got 500++ with Tendulkar,Sidhu and I think Azhar getting 100s Then SL came and it was something like Atapattu 24 (his highest test score at the time) Jayasuriya 340 Mahanama 225 Aravinda 100+ Jayawardena 66 (On debut) Ranatunge 80+ ODI it was a World Cup Match Vs Kenya at Kandy in 1996 SL 398 Aravinda 145 and Gurusinghe 80+ w 8 Sixes (equal previous record) There was nothing dull about that match :P B) Sri Lanka are NOW a well balance team, but used to be mainly a Batting team...even in 96 when we won the WC it was the batting in the Sub Continent that REALLL won it for us..... and the brilliant fielding at the time! (Roshan Mahanama was one of the best in the world if not the best w Jonty) Now with Experiance of Vaas and Murali it's an excellent team Sri Lanka have been a top one day team ever since 95/96 but in Test mactches they're inconsistent... sometimes brilliant sometimes well..........clueless!! Anyway hope this wasn't just garbage and was useful reading Peace DT |
