Australian Football Thread

Well I though i'd create this thread since theres a thread on every league but ours.

Should be an interesting second season for the "A-League". Good to see the Melbourne Victory signing a few brazilian players!

Yorke is probably the most famous player which the A-League had. Certainly adding more teams and recruiting better players to promote our game will start to be big.

True, plays for Sydney FC.

I know the "David Beckham of Korea" or something like that played a few games for Sydney FC. Wouldnt know of any other players, as I am not an avid fan.

Yorke is the only decent player their imo unless i've missed someone out.. alll australia national players are mostly based in europe and if not i think they'll get snapped up by a european team after a good performance at the World Cup.

Yeah, that was Miura, and he's actually Japanese...
He was on loan- used to be one of Asia's finest, I believe- and only played a few matches as you said. Neverthless, he was sorta past it, which is understandable seeing as he's nigh on forty years old...

Corica's with FC- he's by no means in the league of a star like Yorke, but he's still a former Socceroos player, meaning he's up there in a rather modest side. David Carney's, well, a young talent...
Anyway, the sport'll never really kick off until FTA t.v. gain partial broadcasting rights or something, in my opinion anyway. Still, it's been a decent success- anything'll look good in the face of that rubbish we used to call NSL, though.

Why was this moved? It's not an AFL thread, just in case that was the mistake...

Must be because he didn't play in the WC and came over to play in australia for the summer. Similar to Langer coming over to somerset in cricket.
