Zidane gets the Golden Ball

To everybody's surprise Zinedine Zidane has been named this world cup's man of the tournament.Apparently, the votes were finalised before the red card incident.Zidane received 2,012, Italian captain Fabio Cannavaro finished second (1,977) and his team mate Andrea Pirlo was third (715).

To everyone's surprise indeed, apart from his disgraceful sending off - he deserved it.

The vote was made before Zidane was sent off. It was made at Half time. I dont know why these sort of things dont wait until the tournament concludes but there you go.

Colin, I think they won because it was exciting seeing how they would come up with new ways of falling down and faking injuries.

Red card doesn’t make you worst, He deserved it as the way he played the whole tournament except that 1 min.

I never said getting a red card made you the worst. But I dont think you should win an award for best player if you are sent off in the final either.

You say its just 1 min, but that doesnt matter. It only takes 1 min to ruin your reputation, it takes a lifetime to build it.

who mentioned Rooney? apart from you? Yes the same goes for Rooney, but nobody is giving Rooney an award are they. Rooney is well known for his temper but he is young and will learn from his mistakes. Zidane should know better.

Although I agree that the result could have been different had the votes come after the game, I think its fair to give the award considering the WC as a whole. And considering that, and also the fact that Cannavaro did ever so well, Zizou definately deserves it the most.

Congratulations to him.

what do I mean?

I mean he is old enough to know better. I expect more from a fully grown adult than a young lad. He has been in the game long enough to know that people will say things to you that you dont like (maybe, we will never really know what happened) but you have to ignore it not take matters into your own hands (or head).
