2006 Murgatroyd Cup/Shield- Rules and Details

2006 Murgatroyd Shield

The 2006 Murgatroyd Shield (named in honour of Bryan "the transformer" Murgatroyd) consists of 8 teams. Each team will play each other twice (home and away), meaning they will play 14 preliminary round matches. At the end of the preliminary rounds, the top four teams will progress into the finals. The ladder is calculated as follows:

Outright win: 6 points
Draw with first innings points: 2 points
Outright loss with first innings points: 2 points
Outright tie: 3 points each team

If two teams are on the same amount of points the positions are determined through quotient [ (Runs for/Wickets)/(Runs against/Wickets) ]

The finals system will work as follows:

WEEK 1
Elimination final: 1 v 4
Elimination final: 2 v 3

WEEK 2
Grand Final: Winner EF1 v Winner EF2

In the event of a tie/draw the higher finishing team will progress. If this occurs in the final it will be replayed.

Matches
Your team for each match shall be posted in the relevent match topic (posted midweek) before 12pm AEST (2am GMT) each Saturday. If it is not recieved in good time the match will be played with your lineup from the previous week.

All matches will take place at the home grounds you choose in the draft.

Each player in your squad must play a minimum of 2 first class games over the course of the home and away season.
