World Cup on the Web:Good news for UK broadband users

BBC announced that they would be showing the World Cup Matches live on the web for all their UK users who have broadband. It will also show 4 minute highlights package of the games.

Link from BBC site:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/foot...ge/5037426.stm

Dont you think that this facility should be allowed for not just the UK broadband users but all of us browsing the web ?

I probably knew they would do this. BBC now put a lot of their shows in their site. Also they showed all the commonwelath games on their site.

SBS did this for the Socceroos qualifying game. But it was for Aussies residents only so I couldn't try it out TVNZ also did coverage for the commonwealth online so it definitely is the way of the future. But I can imagine it eating up a lot of bandwidth which doesn't help when you only get 10 GB.

I use broadband and live in the UK, but I'm not likely to use this service. I will quite happily watch the matches on BBC TV, which is freely available, well, for the price of your TV Licence, on most UK televisions.

Well if the Offices are smart they will have something that blocks you from watching it. I noticed this at my Uni. I couldn't watch the Commonwealth games online cause they have blocked it somehow.

Then learn how to unblock it. It is all about proxy's and stuff like that.

Tough luck to watch it online. It will practically eat your downloads.

So glad that SBS have signed on to show every game live! The problem is that most games are at 1am Aust time.
