Next Codemasters Game

Please post all discussion relating to Codemasters next cricket game here until the game is officially announced and a seperate forum is created.

What we know about the game (either from info released or PlanetCricket sources):

Will be released in 2007 for the World Cup
Will be developed in-house by Codemasters
Has much improved graphics over BLIC 2005
Will be announced by Codemasters in July

What is rumoured and has not yet been confirmed by Codemasters or PlanetCricket sources:

Game will be official game of the Cricket World Cup 2007

All of those points are very good. BLIC 2005 was a huge let down. Graphics were awful and Gameplay was absolutely nothing like cricket. Hopefully the game will be similar to BLC 99 and have full licenses. And I wouldn't mind them not using Starforce protection so we can edit the exe .

Certainly looking forward to the next version from the Codies. BLIC 2005 was not at all a let down imo. Just that the gamers were expecting a bit too much from them. It was certainly a very brave step forward to make a not so commercial game like cricket and putting some pressure on EA aswell to improve their work. Hoping the next game will remove all the existing flaws.....

The graphics were awful and the physics were worse. The speeds, swing and bounce were all totally unrealistic (Speeds like 100mph-40 mph for fast bowlers, Swing was way way too big and bounce was either too high or too low). A lot of other things were wrong like the ball hardly ever carrying to slips and they the bastman edged it was wrong. Hopefully BLIC 07 will be 10 times better.

Well I accept it had some silly bugs, but now seeing as it is no longer being made by Swordfish Studios, so changes are obvious and they will certainly be positive ones unlike EA, who resell the old game with new covers.

Could someone give me clarification over who has the rights for faces.

CODIES do for world cups and champions trophies.
EA do for the rest.

But who has asian faces in normal matches because in both games they are unrecognisable

Surely they deserve credit for actually implementing what is the best bowling/swing system seen in a cricket game yet? It's the only bowling system that's ever kept me interested in the bowling aspect of a cricket game. BLC, Cricket 2002 and Cricket 2004 are basically the same, the Cricket 2005 system is a joke. Sure, there may have been too much swing at times and the bounce wasn't quite right, but the fact it felt like a wicket falling was down to you doing the batsman with a pitched up away swinger or an inswinging yorker is great! Far from perfect, but by far the best.

Something I like the idea of is a 'percentage' difficulty bar which has only really been seen in racing games so far (TRD 1, 2(?) and 3). It would mean it could be possible to find a level where everyone is happy.

Given that Codemasters didn't have the rights to use real players in modes outside the World Cup and Champions Trophy, I think it's pretty safe to say they don't.

Hopefully its a not improved as in Cricket 2004...id rather cartonny smooth graphics than blocky "improved" graphics any day.

I wish:

1. They can employ Brian Lara and Ricky Ponting themselves to do the shot motioning.

2. They can employ proper (1st team club level) players to do the bowling actions and catches too.

3. Seperate face files for every player so face making would b simpler than Cricket 2005.

4. The game could feel less rushed in gameplay...it all finishes too fast

What I'd like better, and it'd be simpler...is to choose the difficulty of each aspect out of easy, medium or hard:

Fielding bar speed
Bowling speed (not the numbers, actual speed)
Batting difficulty
Bowling difficulty
AND OTHERS WHICH I CANT THINK OF

Lara didn't do the motioning for BLIC? I believe you, but it seems to be modeled after his style (i.e. really high backswing).

Hopefully this will be a truly NEW game from BLIC 2005. I mean, I hope it isn't an EA Sports World Cup 2006 as compared to FIFA 2006.

Looking forward to it!

They haven't changed the logo one bit, at least it's been confirmed for Xbox 360 - I'd like to see how that turns out.

UGH, it won't let me submit them. Well it looks alright at the moment.

Looks good!

I noticed that in the adverts it says that the game will be released on PS2, so maybe an earlier release date than we thought? Afterall, PS3 is being released this Xmas and there is no mention of it in the adverts....Just a thought!

Is it going to be like World Cup 2006 Soccer as in it is only the one tourney or will it be a full-on release?

I hope they concentrate more on AI this time.
Those unrealistic field placings, wild variation in pace, CPU not taking singles are the major bugs and are very annoying.
