probability of teams winning the world cup!!!

P(n) = λne-λ over n!

ok...

in the equation, 'n' is the number of goals scored, 'lambda' is the expected number of goals, 'e' is a natural logarithm and the exclamation mark is 'factorial', a function of 'n'. P is the probability distribution of goals scored.

but anyway, if you have a degree in stats, then you can solve this.

or you can go to http://www.dectech.org/WorldCup/PWC.html for probabilities

but any way, if you have a degree in stats then have-a-go....

Ha ha ha - Spain is 90% likely to make the quarters .
Pretty good find there (I like numbers). But do they really think The Netherlands has that good of a chance?

Sorry part of my brain just fell asleep out of boredom! If you want to know roughly how much chance your team has at the world cup, check out the odds I gave in vbookie, they came from a real betting site and they should know their stuff

The Netherlands made it to the semi-finals in the past three major tournaments, excluding the World Cup 2002 where they didn't participate, and were ousted two times with penalties.

So I would say they've got a big chance to reach the semi-finals again. It depends who they counter in the way up.

I think Spain can reach the quarterfinals, but that's it then. The same with Portugal.

I would say the Czech Republic should be higher voted. Everybody knows by now how great they are and they are for a reason the number two in the world. But like you said, that's how the betting from another site thinks about it.
