How about an option, if your team is struggling (assuming you have about 15-20 in a squad), you can turn the players into pirates, buy a ship, and sail the seven seas, taking the lives of any scurvy dogs that are foolish enough to be standing in ye way.

You did say however wild or crazy, but I think this suggestion definitely should be considered.

Also, if you're going to have commentary for the games like battrick do, make sure you either make HEAPS of lines, or just have simple lines. There's nothing worse than seeing cheesy lines being repeated a la Cricsim.

e.g. in Cricsim this would be the sort of thing you'd expect

This is the sort of thing you get quite regularly in Cricsim, and it is alright to start off, but once you've seen all of the lines it gets annoying. Battrick do quite a good job of having heaps of different lines, except the short leg got hit in the crotch three times in one of my games, and ended up taking all three catches. Either make heaps of cheesy lines or none at all.

Sid: There will initally be the usual PM/message system. I assume you mean a live chat function? If so, I do see the value of that so I will see if this is viable. I have added it to our 'to consider' list


Tassie I completely agree with your point. I should say that we are looking to have the initial match engine interface with commentary, images to represent each ball for easy summarising and a highlight feature which will show each chance, boundary or dismissal as a series of live images (actual 2d match engine will come later.... very basic example... image 1 'Oh and he's hit it in the air', image 2 'this must be out?', image 3 'oh no, PlayerX has dropped it').

Upon registration, a player will choose the country in which he aims to compete. It will be made clear at that point that the users matches will be in that countries time zone and so the user will be encouraged to join the best match-time slot available.

The game will feature the following countries on launch:

England
Australia
New Zealand
India
Pakistan
South Africa
Sri Lanka
West Indies

I think you should also include USA as many Indians/Pakistanis living in the US will want to play.

Thanks again for the quick reply Dave.How about adding a 2d graphic display while the game is going on to get the viewing experience one step higher?(Pretty basic screens like circles for the player etc)

Ste/Madfor/Pak: Thank you for your feedback on the country structure.

We will look at tweaking the regions involved to consider 'all' countries by generalising the regions.

I will report back on that once I have discussed with the development guys.

We are looking to do something similar to this for the release of phase 2 (estimated early 2007).
