800X 600 resolution poll

Quote:
guys, i am aiming towards optimal res of 1280x1024, so please make overlays to fit that size. The game will be playable at lower res (e.g. 1024x768) but please make the overlays with 1280x1024 in mind. As Drewska mentioned, dynamic text will be added ingame but static text like titles etc. can be done as part of the overlay IF IT DOES NOT EVER CHANGE.
As u got it, LM has decided not to include 800x600.
It would be unfrtunate as so many people play at this level as they can't afford good graphics card/ or 17' inch monitor.
although I don't have any problems with it as such (heck, I can play at 1600 res if I want to) , I know large no of friends who can't play them.

Hence please put your opinion here, as it would be sad to see a great game being unplayable by so many people.

imo... many users still use 800 X 600, so it should be included...it will be another feature of the game...

If you read it again it is being optimised for 1280x1024, but it can be scaled down to anything

many games I have played which defaults to 1280x1024 get scaled down to 1024x768, but not 800x600

but, when the game does get scaled down to 800 x 600, the quality is very very poor...

So true!
But anti - aliasing/mipmapping/anisotropic filtering generally take care of that problem.

I think it should be there.

Currently I play Ea Cricket 2005 on 800x600 as its the best resolution for my laptop. the game is terribly slow on higher resolutions. So I would say include it!

If he's designing it at 1280x1024 and the quality when scaled down to 800x600 is poor, I am afraid that is his perogative.

To be honest with you, 800x600 sucks. Judging by the Game Screenz that LM has posted, (they do look great though), 800x600 resolution probably won't be needed.

I use 800 x 600, it provides a good smooth gameplay experience (like 640 x 480), and good graphics too (like 1024 x 768) !

Although I never use 800 X 600 resolution but lots of people still use it, so it should be there IMO. Every member here at pc deserves to enjoy the game.

To make a complete game a 800*600 is needed, no matter if anyone uses it or not, as there should be an option in hand.
