A decent player editor!

Hey all

First off, a big well done to LM, I'm not sure what I'm more impressed with, the attention to detail, the hard work, or the concept in the first place!

Anyway I was wondering if The Cricket Project will include the facility to edit player characteristics (also what characteristics will these players have?)

Will this be in game, or an external program?

Keep up the good work!

absolutely! I am a huge believer that a game's longevity lies in it's gameplay and it's editability. Particularly sports games...because everythign changes very frequently things need to be easily updated and modified. For example, look how mmany of the Aussies have changed their bats over the last few months, some due to the Kookaburra withdrawals...

but yes, i want media and stats etc. to all be possible to edit and for it to be a relatively painless process...although sometimes data entry cant be avoided...

To be honest i have not yet decided 100% whether the editing will be done ingame or externally or both! Im thinking of having an external app to edit all stats etc (cos there are tons of them!) and the ingame editor will be used to edit other stuff like rosters, competitions, players names and basic qualities and appearance...so probably erring on the side of 'both' at this stage...but either way i really want it to be easy to edit and for people to be able to edit almost everything.

LM

Question which is quite related.

How will online play work, if we are able to edit stats? e.g. Someone may max out there players.

I have only one question. Do all players look like they are in real life or do many of the players same I mean appearance - face, height etc.?

i wouldnt go with the faces part..i.e not ALL players will have resemblance in face as its difficult and not THAT vital IMO !!

but other factors such as variation in height, weight, hairstyles, skin tones etc
should make up for it i guess

yeah, we will try to make as many of the main ones that we can, in any case though faces can always be added and changed later on....

As JK said, Height and weight and skin etc. should be as close to correct as we can get it, but each player will be 'noticably different' in these areas e.g. Flintoff will be obviously taller than Bell (well, dur! )

yeah, stats would have to be reverted back to 'default' for online play - but dont worry, this would not overwrite any current stat tracking you had from non-online play

Perhaps the stat-editor could only affect your own play. IE, the online stats would be a separate thing, which the editor wouldn't edit.

Yeah, that's a better idea.
