He is a graduate of the AIS-AFL Academy and toured South Africa in early 2007. Dangerfield was a member of the Vic Metro side at the 2007 Under 18 Championships. He was ranked in the top three for both the 30 metre repeat sprints (23.96sec) and the vertical leap (73cm) at the 2007 NAB AFL Draft Camp and was also a top ten ranked performer in the 20m sprint (2.92sec). Dangerfield won the 100m and 400m titles at the Victorian Secondary Schools Athletics in October 2007. Patrick will train with Adelaide in the pre-season but return home to finish Year 12 at Oberon High School before moving to Adelaide full-time at the end of next year. He will continue to play for the Geelong Falcons under-18 side in 2008 and may be available to play in the SANFL during the school holidays. Although staying in Victoria to finish his studies, Dangerfield is keenly anticipating his move to Adelaide. “I’m very, very excited,” he said. “Obviously it’s going to be a big change in lifestyle, but Adelaide’s near the water and I like surfing and everything like that so I’m very excited.” |
